Director – Mr. Sean Smyth
Sean Smyth established Sean Smyth Construction Ltd in 1999 and Sean Smyth Civil Engineering Ltd in 2019. Sean Smyth Civil Engineering grew from the need for specific growth in the Civil Engineering need within the Construction Industry in past few years.
Sean is the director of both companies. The business has steadily grown to a large Civil Engineering and Main Contracting Business involved in high profile projects such as Trim Housing Development, Hollywoodrath Housing Development, Clonsilla Housing Development, Duleek Housing Development, Beaumont Hospital Psychiatric Unit, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda along with Department of Education Schools, Lidl Projects to mention but a few.
Sean is very experienced in all aspects of civil engineering and main contracting works both in Ireland and UK. He began his career as a Machine operative and very quickly progressed to supervisor, foreman, and contracts manager for some of the largest Civil Engineering firms in the UK.
Sean takes huge pride in ensuring that each project is run strictly in accordance with the agreed programme, to the highest standards and on budget. He visits each project on a constant basis ensuring adequate manpower and plant power. Through a well-established record of achieving deadlines, meeting budgets and his high standard of workmanship, ninety percent of SSCL/ SSCE projects are repeat business from some of the largest main contractors in Ireland.
Quantity Surveyor – Mr. Noel Carr BE CENG MIEI
Noel Carr has 22 years’ experience in the field of Civil Engineering and Topographical Surveying.
Prior to joining Sean Smyth Civil Ltd, Noel worked for various civil engineering contractors and Topographical Surveying consultants in Ireland, America and Australia. Noel was a director of an Architectural and Engineering Consultancy firm for ten years which provided Topographical surveying and Architectural services on a diverse range of Projects, to a vast array of clients.
These included Civil, Industrial, Commercial, Educational and Residential type projects. Noel is a Civil Engineering graduate of University College Dublin and
a Chartered Civil Engineer.
Senior Site Manager – Tommy Loftus
Tommy began his career with SSCL in 1999 as a track machine operative and has progressed through the ranks of the company to Foreman. He has been with the company since its formation and is an integral member of the organisation.
Tommy is very experienced in all aspects of site management and his qualifications include all safe pass and machine operative tickets. As our main site foreman he takes responsibility for the daily management of the sites and ensuring that each project is completed to the highest standard and in accordance with the programme. He is dedicated to achieving project programmes and has in many cases completed projects earlier that the agreed completion dates. Tommy is very proactive and demands nothing but the highest level of workmanship form his site operatives and with his very hands on approach is in keeping with the ‘personal touch’ Sean Smyth Civil Ltd prides itself in.
Project Manager – Paul Murphy
Paul is currently responsible for managing our Housing Project for GEM Construction, consisting of 280 units. Paul has many years of experience in the field of Civil Engineering and site management. He qualified from Dublin Institute of Technology with a Bachelors of Engineering in Civil Engineering and has worked as such for the last 5 years and gained extensive experience and knowledge of Data Centres, Residential, Roads and infrastructure Projects. Prior to this, Paul worked as a Carpenter for over 10 years in several countries.
Office Manager – Olivia Meares
Our registered office takes care of the administrative side of the company. Olivia is the Office Manager with several years’ experience in this area. She is a qualified Accounting Technician, IPass Ceritified Payroll Technician and gained Level 6 PSCS Certification, and completed Waste Permit training. Oliva is also responsible for HR, payroll and Safety Accreditation aspects.
Administration – Catherine Boyle
Catherine brings both accounting and administration experience to the Company and has worked for several years in this role. She is in involved in the day to day running of the office and is responsible for Payroll, HR and Fleet Organisation.

They provide a high quality service to us and are totally committed to achieving optimum value on all projects through a complete Civil Consultancy Service. CQS tailor their services to meet our individual Clients’ requirements and we deliver this service in a cost effective manner to enable the Client to benefit through our technical knowledge and professional abilities and the use of their information technology systems.
The practice has grown considerably and has developed three strategic Divisions to service their Clients – Ireland, Poland and International.
McMahon Galvin Ltd
John Galvin – McMahon Galvin is our Insurance Broker and we co-ordinate all our insurance through him.
Combined Liability €13,000,000 with a depth limit 6 metres and Height Limit 15 metres.
